Musco Lights historic NBA games in China
|

Musco Lighting was recently in the middle of historic events in Shanghai and Beijing.
Temporary lighting systems were installed at two venues for the first-ever exhibition games in China
between two NBA teams, the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings. The lighting systems met NBA
and broadcast light level requirements.
The two games, one played in each city, were televised live on ESPN in China, the U.S., and 175
other countries in eight languages, with an estimated 250 million households watching in China
alone, according to MSNBC.

Musco's experience lighting NBA stadiums in the U.S., including Houston's Toyota Center,
coupled with our local manufacturing capabilities in China, gave us the advantage in securing the
contract for the games.
Both venues had inadequate house lighting for this type of event. In Shanghai, (40) 1500w
fixtures were installed. In Beijing, (24) 1500w fixtures were added to existing lighting.

The games were an indication of the rising popularity of basketball in China, second only to soccer.
Both arenas were packed to the rafters to watch their country's most famous sports prodigy,
Houston Rocket's Yao Ming, perform.
