The USS Enterprise is the U.S. Navy’s first nuclear powered ship. It stands
250 feet tall, keel to mast, and has 4.45 acres of flight deck.
Emotions ran high when Country Music legend Garth Brooks took the stage on the USS Enterprise
as part of his Coast to Coast Live concert tour.
The Enterprise aircraft carrier had just returned to Norfolk, Virginia, with service men and women who had
been stationed in the Middle East. The carrier was beginning its trip home when terrorists attacked the
U.S. on September 11, therefore extending their stay at sea another two months.
When the Enterprise finally arrived safely, the concert followed soon after.
Four Musco Light™ units lighted the harbor where the Enterprise,
another aircraft carrier, and two U.S. Navy destroyers were docked, to give viewers a sense of the atmosphere
surrounding the concert stage. •
