Extraordinary Event... Unequaled Performance
|
Florida When Hurricane Wilma hit landfall on October 24, 2005, her wrath left preliminary damage estimates of $2
billion dollars across South Florida. The majority of the lighting systems at athletic fields throughout the
Broward County school districts sustained enough damage to make the fields unplayable. However, Musco's Green
Generation lighting systems at two fields in the district were not damaged and required no repair.
Green Generation lighting, introduced in January, 2005, was installed on more than 25 fields at 8 locations directly
in the eye of the storm. Field inspections of each lighting system showed no damage.
Musco's Green Generation technology, proved its durability even in the worst conditions.

...all Green Generation product located and recently installed at Coconut Creek and
Hallandale High Schools came through Hurricane Wilma unscathed. After review of the systems, it appears that no
fixtures are out of aim and there is no wind damage at either location, which took a direct hit from the storm.

Musco Green Generation Technology Durability that's affordable
Light-Structure Green is the result of 30 years of research and innovation, more than $10 million of investment
and thousands of field inspections by Musco.
- Improved luminaire efficiency and aerodynamics reduce the wind load that luminaires apply to the pole by up to 70%.
Reduced wind loading makes retrofit of existing structures easy.
- For example, at Coconut Creek the total luminaire windload EPA is 25.2 sq. ft. on a typical pole using 12 Green
Generation luminaires. The luminaire windload EPA would be 80 sq. ft. on the pole with old technology, using 20 luminaires
per pole, to achieve the same amount of light on the field and the best glare/spill control possible.
- New, even more durable components
diecast aluminum reflector housings, enhanced diecast knuckle cone, and simple
yet rugged luminaire attachment to crossarm to assure reliable results.
- Designed and manufactured as a complete system from foundation to poletop...no weak links.
Plus, Light Structure Green
- Cuts operating costs in half based on customer estimated hours of usage, the 8 projects that survived the eye
of the hurricane are projected to save over $6 million in energy costs alone over the next 25 years
- Reduces spill light by 50%
- Includes 100% of your routine maintenance costs for 25 years
- Includes system monitoring and remote on/off control services
- Provides constant light levels
