The Lithonia Lighting Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of lighting fixtures, and Musco Lighting, the recognized market leader in sports lighting systems, have announced the formation of a national marketing alliance.

Lithonia Lighting of Conyers, Georgia and Musco of Oskaloosa, Iowa have formed an alliance through which they will cooperate on certain projects to jointly offer a package including lighting products, controls and installation services from both companies. The Musco sales force will continue its direct selling efforts in its primary markets while working exclusively with the Lithonia Lighting agency force to extend market access for the Musco product line.

According to Ken Honeycutt, President of Lithonia Lighting, “Our intention is to leverage the market scope and product strengths of these two excellent businesses by effectively cooperating in specification and selling efforts that can be of mutual benefit.” Joe Crookham, President of Musco, added, “Our belief is that our two companies effectively cover complementary segments of the market.”

The alliance was formed after a successful 18 month pilot program in several markets demonstrated the viability of the concept. Honeycutt and Crookham emphasized that this was not a merger or an acquisition, and that no change in the ownership of either company is planned or anticipated.

Musco’s core market is sports-lighting systems for park and recreation facilities and public schools. Musco’s innovative technology has resulted in an Academy Award for film lighting, and an Emmy Award for its lighting of NCAA football telecasts. And, its lighting has been used for high profile events such as the Statue of Liberty Rededication, four Super Bowls, and the 1984, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.
