An Olympic team effort
2000 Olympic Games Sydney, Australia
After the Games began, television producers realized they needed more light in the
mixed zones, an area just beyond the competing surface where they interview
athletes as they complete their performance. Musco was asked to provide lighting services
for many of these areas, adding to the already packed workload. It was challenging to
provide the necessary light for television without spilling over into the competition area
and causing glare for the athletes.
Lighting technicians monitored the equipment at each venue throughout the Games to do
planned changeovers as well as handle last-minute adjustments. Those long hours
provided them exposure to the athletes.
