University of Iowa athletic teams always make an exciting entrance. But this year’s UI men’s and women’s basketball and wrestling teams will make a splash like few other college teams when they enter Carver-Hawkeye Arena for competition, thanks to Musco Lighting, the newest member of UI’s Partner in Excellence corporate sponsorship program.

Musco’s ShowLight™ lighting system evokes NBA-like excitement as Iowa’s talented student-athletes are introduced under spotlights framed by a darkened Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The UI’s award winning “Home of the Hawkeyes” is the first Big Ten Conference facility to boast ShowLight technology.

In use throughout the US and UK, ShowLight was selected by Iowa because it delivers superior playing conditions and the capability for dynamic introductions similar to the NBA’s Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets and Charlotte Hornets. The ShowLight system also enhances the production of local, state, regional and national television coverage of UI, Big Ten and NCAA events staged at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Musco, designated as the “Official Lighting Consultant to the University of Iowa Athletic Department and the Iowa Hawkeyes,” will continue to support unique athletic events staged by the University of Iowa next spring when it teams with Iowa track and field for “Musco Twilight III.” It will mark the third time Musco will help provide the setting for a premiere event — outdoor evening track and field — featuring some of the Big Ten Conference and region’s top track and field talent.

ShowLight also achieves light cutoff around video scoreboards without creating shadows on the court, dramatically reduces glare for spectators and players and provides broadcast-quality lighting.
