The U.S. Open, one of tennis crown jewels, entered the prime time television slot
for the first time in its history when the 2001 womens singles final was broadcast on CBS.
Television ratings rose 11 percent over last year with an estimated 7.4 million viewers tuning
in to all or part of CBS coverage.
Musco lighting systems are in place at Arthur Ashe Stadium where
the finals were held. Lighting systems are also installed at the stadiums where preliminary rounds
are played as well as 18 event and practice courts.
