Carver-Hawkeye Arena
The UIs award winning Home of the Hawkeyes is the first Big Ten Conference
facility to boast ShowLight technology. Muscos newly installed lighting system at
Carver-Hawkeye Arena features instant off/on capabilities providing theatrical
effects to create excitement and drama.
The ShowLight system was selected for the University of Iowa because it delivers
superior playing conditions as well as the capability for dynamic introductions similar to
those used by the NBAs Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets and Charlotte Hornets. The
ShowLight system also enhances the production of local, state, regional and national
television coverage of UI, Big Ten and NCAA events staged at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The ShowLight system can be programmed for a variety of special effects during
player introductions, halftime shows and special events.
Carver-Hawkeye Arenas lighting system consists of 96 1,000-watt fixtures.
The lighting is television-broadcast quality with average light levels of 290 footcandles
horizontal and 200 footcandles vertical.
