and Events
    Carver-Hawkeye Arena
The UI’s award winning “Home of the Hawkeyes” is the first Big Ten Conference facility to boast ShowLight™ technology. Musco’s newly installed lighting system at Carver-Hawkeye Arena features instant off/on capabilities — providing theatrical effects to create excitement and drama.

The ShowLight system was selected for the University of Iowa because it delivers superior playing conditions as well as the capability for dynamic introductions similar to those used by the NBA’s Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets and Charlotte Hornets. The ShowLight system also enhances the production of local, state, regional and national television coverage of UI, Big Ten and NCAA events staged at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The ShowLight system can be programmed for a variety of special effects during player introductions, halftime shows and special events.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena’s lighting system consists of 96 1,000-watt fixtures. The lighting is television-broadcast quality with average light levels of 290 footcandles horizontal and 200 footcandles vertical.

Football     Kinnick Stadium
(temporary lighting)
Musco has provided temporary lighting services for late afternoon or night football games since the mid 1980s.

Outdoor Practice Facility

(permanent lighting)
Lighting systems installed in September 2000 allow the team to practice outdoors in the evening. Light levels are suitable for video taping.

Practice Bubble
(permanent lighting)
Musco’s indirect lighting systems allow football practices to continue indoors. A custom device allows the lights to be lowered within minutes in the event of a rupture in the dome.

Softball     Pearl Field
(permanent lighting)
The women’s athletic program at the University of Iowa received its largest donation to date in early 1998 when Musco Lighting contributed a lighting system for Pearl Field, the home field of Iowa’s nationally ranked softball team.

Track & Field     The “Iowa Twilight” Big Ten track meets held in 1999 and 2000 used Musco temporary lights. Musco will continue to provide support for additional stagings of this premiere event featuring some of the Big Ten Conference and region’s top track and field talent.
