Club San Isidro is one of the most popular athletic clubs in the state of Coahuila, México. A privately owned facility, the club was looking to improve light quality on its tennis courts and reduce energy costs by upgrading the metal halide lighting system to more advanced LED technology. With the courts’ existing lights creating dark areas, hot spots, and shadows, club leaders wanted an LED system that, in addition to reducing energy consumption, would improve light levels and uniformity. Ideally, the new system would also feature glare control technology and an extensive warranty.
Club San Isidro evaluated several LED sports lighting manufacturers and found that none could match Musco’s warranty, glare control, or track record of lighting professional stadiums, including Wimbledon and U.S. Open courts. Project leaders decided to retrofit the tennis courts with Musco’s TLC for LED™ system, which reduces energy consumption by around 50 percent compared to the previous metal halide lighting. When it was discovered that inaccurate information about the facility’s pole locations had been given to Musco, the company oversaw the re-aiming of luminaires, provided free of charge thanks to its 10-year parts and labor warranty. The new system’s custom optics produce clean, consistent light on the courts, while its patented visoring prevents glare from affecting players.
