When the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation decided to build a new street circuit in the middle of Jeddah’s waterfront corniche area, it set its sights on breaking records. The decision to hold the track’s first race at night led Federation officials to search for a floodlighting system that could provide the high light levels required for television broadcast, the uniformity and glare control specified by international racing organisation safety standards, and an unforgettable race night experience for spectators. With an installation timeline of just eight months, the new project would be a race to the finish.
The Federation trusted Musco’s prior experience floodlighting Yas Marina Circuit and Bahrain International Circuit. Federation officials opted to equip Jeddah with a Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system featuring patented light control that prevents glare from affecting drivers, spectators, and television cameras. The system’s more than 2200 luminaires were installed and networked together with fully internal wiring in time for the circuit’s inaugural race, where Show-Light+™ entertainment services added a spectacular touch to the event. For added peace of mind, Musco’s comprehensive parts and labour warranty eliminates all maintenance costs for the system until the year 2031.
