City leaders in Bossier City, Louisiana, planned a project to give community members more recreational opportunities at night by upgrading facility lighting at five of its city parks. Clifford Almond Park, Meadowview Park, Shady Grove Baseball, Tinsley Park, and Walbrook Park all had aging HID lights that were failing to meet expectations in terms of light quality and control. With a few locations in need of new support structures as well, the city wanted a partner to provide new and retrofitted light systems that would reduce glare and light spill, improve visibility, and be easy to operate.
City leaders conducted extensive research and visited multiple facilities with LED lighting to compare and contrast different manufacturers’ solutions. They ultimately chose to partner with Musco due to its superior reputation, technology, and service. The Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ system’s fixtures are factory aimed for precise light application and better uniformity, and include Musco’s patented visoring technology, which helps prevent glare and spill from impacting the surrounding community. Additionally, with the Control‑Link® controls and monitoring service, city staff can control the lights instantly, from anywhere with the touch of a smartphone and have 24/7 call center support.
“We have worked collaboratively with Musco to provide the citizens and visitors of Bossier City the highest quality athletic field lighting in our region. Without a doubt, the upgraded Musco light fixtures and poles we added, plus the remote lighting controls we use on a daily basis, have certainly made scheduling easy (instant “on” or instant “off” via a smart phone or by scheduling well in advance with the use of a PC). We are also able to see a significant energy savings moving from Metal Halide to LED. Musco technicians are always available to answer any questions we’ve had. From an access standpoint, we are also able to control “who” has access to scheduling the field lights that are used by outside organizations such as Dixie, Little League Baseball, and weekend tournament travel baseball/softball. It has certainly been a pleasure working with Musco! They have and continue to exceed the needs of our recreational department!”
