With a large financial commitment to its new 31-acre sports campus, Institute of Technology Carlow has recently completed a new sports campus including a World Athletics Certified Track and Field facility, 1 x 4G GAA pitch, 1 x grass GAA pitch, 2 x grass soccer pitches, 2 x grass rugby pitches, walking trail and 200 car parking spaces. The Institute wanted to provide high-quality sports facilities that would increase participation in sport for both students and staff with expanded recreational opportunities in the evenings. The addition of an advanced lighting system would ensure superior visibility, reduced light spill to the surrounding environment, and streamlined controls including the ability to dim the lights for energy conservation.
Having previously installed Musco metal halide products at the main campus, Institute of Technology Carlow was well aware of Musco’s experience in the industry and opted for a new Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ system. The system’s patented light control technology prevents glare and light spill from affecting neighbors, and advanced controls that allow staff to turn on, turn off, and dim the lights instantly from their computer. Additionally, the combination of advanced light control technology and custom optics around the LEDs creates clear, uniform light that provides the best possible visibility for evenings on the field, all with a guaranteed performance for 10 years.
