Century High School’s football program in Pocatello, Idaho, went years without having true home-field advantage due to lack of lighting at its campus’s football field. This encouraged school leaders to upgrade the field with a new lighting system that would enable night games and practices, as well as save the expense of renting out another field for evening events. To accomplish its goals, the school needed a cost-effective solution to provide superior visibility while ensuring glare and spill light doesn’t disrupt facilities surrounding the field or motorists on the nearby Veterans Memorial Highway.
The school district had already established a relationship with Musco after partnering to light a few local facilities prior to the project at Century’s football field. As a result, school leaders decided to again partner with Musco and install its Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ technology. The system’s custom optics and factory-aiming capabilities create optimal visibility for players and fans, while Musco’s patented fixture visoring and light control technology eliminates glare and ensures wasted spill light does not negatively impact surrounding areas. Additionally, Musco’s parts and labor warranty eliminates maintenance costs through the year 2044.
