Douglas County School District in Castle Rock, Colorado, received a $250 million bond to complete extensive upgrades at Douglas County Stadium and Shea Stadium. Atop the list of must-need changes at both facilities were the lighting systems, which were underperforming in terms of overall light quality and creating concerns that glare might affect the major roadways and school facilities surrounding each field. To resolve these issues, the district needed a cost-effective LED lighting system that would produce improved light levels and include advanced light control capabilities.
District leaders conducted extensive research into several sports lighting manufacturers and determined the glare reduction capability of Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ retrofit was the superior solution. The system delivers enhanced, uniform light levels for the best possible visibility at each facility. Musco’s patented glare control and visoring technology preserves darkness for areas surrounding the stadiums and ensures nearby school facilities and roads are unaffected by the lights. Additionally, the district will save money and gain peace of mind as a result of Musco’s parts and labor warranty eliminating maintenance costs for the system through the year 2045.
