Hazelwood School District’s three public high schools have competed in a combined 20 state football championships since 1968. But until recently, students and families have not enjoyed the thrill of home games under stadium lights. In November 2022, voters overwhelmingly approved a public bond issue that included the construction of new football fields and track surfaces at Hazelwood East, Central, and West High Schools, a move that paved the way for state-of-the-art LED stadium lighting that would move game time from Saturday afternoons to Friday primetime. District leaders moved quickly to identify a lighting provider that would deliver optimal results for safety, visibility, and fan experience.
District leaders chose to partner with Musco, a company with a strong reputation and a cooperative purchasing contract for schools in the state of Missouri. Musco used its Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ technology as the basis for custom-designed lighting systems at Hazelwood’s three football stadiums, taking steps to ensure students and fans had the same high-quality game night experience at each facility. Following seamless installation, the lighting systems provide uniform light levels that help athletes play their best and allow fans to track every moment of the action. Musco’s Show-Light® entertainment technology elevates game nights with a variety of pre-programmed and custom scenes and effects. A comprehensive, foundation-to-poletop parts and labor warranty program ensures district staff will not need to worry about any system maintenance costs until the year 2048.
