Built over 100 years ago, Hollister High School (HHS) features beautiful Spanish Mission architecture and holds a special place in the hearts of San Benito community members. Recent bond measures and private donations allowed HHS to support its top-tier athletic programs by renovating and expanding Andy Hardin Football Stadium into a state-of-the-art athletic complex that would feature a new aquatics center and softball stadium. For these facilities, project leaders wanted LED sports lighting that would offer the latest in controls technology as well as minimize spill light and glare in keeping with HHS’ commitment to environmental consciousness.
HHS leaders chose to install Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system at the renovated football stadium as well as at the new aquatics center and softball stadium. The system achieves the light levels needed for each sport while preventing spill light and glare from affecting athletes, fans, or neighbors. BallTracker® fixtures on the football and softball fields light the underside of aerial balls for greater visibility against the dark sky, and because Ray Barragan Softball Stadium was completed most recently, it was able to take advantage of Musco’s latest Show-Light® special effects and MuscoVision® automated sports broadcasting technology. Every part and all labor on each system is covered well into the future by Musco’s long-term warranty.
“Not only has the addition of Musco lights added a layer of security to our facility, but it offers yet another opportunity for our community to come to the stadium to celebrate our student-athletes.”
