Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) opened its new inland intermodal facility, Appalachian Regional Port (ARP), in 2018 to serve as a primary rail terminal providing logistical solutions for customers in a four-state region. Committed to establishing ARP as a state-of-the-art facility, GPA wanted the most advanced lighting system possible as a way to create a safer work environment, conserve energy, and avoid creating disruptive glare in the surrounding area. Having worked together on previous successful projects, GPA chose to partner with Musco.

  • Workers at ARP gain a safer working environment with appropriate light levels and uniformity delivered to the areas throughout the terminal that are intended to be lighted.
  • Areas directly adjacent to ARP, including an observatory, are not affected by spill or glare due to the design and application of the TLC for LED™ system, achieving exceptional cut off.
  • The new system will save GPA nearly $130,000 in operating costs and avoid 630 metric tons of C02 emissions over the next decade, compared to older lighting technology.
  • The facility will enjoy reliable, trouble-free performance with the lighting’s system design, which includes
    Electrical Components Enclosures located near the base of the poles to simplify the process of servicing.
  • GPA won’t pay any maintenance costs on the lighting system through the year 2029 with Musco’s long-term warranty covering every part of the system and all labour.
