The Challenge

Home football games at Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) draw a crowd that reflects both the school’s large enrollment and its impressive athletic record. When it was time for the public vocational high school to update its 20-year-old stadium lighting, district leaders wanted to reward students and fans with a next-level fan experience. They went looking for a lighting provider who could equip their stadium with LED lighting and the kind of colorful light shows they’d seen at nearby Rutgers University, where PCTI’s Bulldogs had competed in the state conference finals.

The Solution

PCTI leaders had been satisfied with their previous lighting system from Musco, and they planned to retrofit their stadium with Musco’s Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ technology. They were thrilled to learn that Musco was responsible for the light show technology at Rutgers – and that the same Show-Light® system was within budgetary reach of a public school district. By the time football season rolled around, a crowd of 3,000-4,000 fans went wild during each of nine home games as the athletic department’s A/V team energized player walkouts, timeouts, and touchdowns with custom light shows synchronized to music. Passaic County even jazzed up their spring graduation ceremonies with a flashy rendition of  “Who Let the Dogs Out?”  They’ve since installed Musco LED solutions at two additional facilities, enhancing visibility, safety, and fan experience for more student-athletes.
