Project GOAL Mini-Pitch

The Challenge

Project GOAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring academic achievement through soccer. The group hosts free biweekly sessions that reward students for focusing on academics for 90 minutes with an equal amount of time playing or practicing soccer. After years of hosting its programming at local schools and universities, Project GOAL was eager to find a space of its own that would allow the entire community to gather in the spirit of teamwork, empowerment, and physical activity. It was also important that any solution be easy to install and durable enough to withstand Rhode Island weather, as well as include lighting to extend the hours of play during winter.

The Solution

Project GOAL was put in touch with Musco by the nonprofit Kick It Forward, which had used the Mini-Pitch System™ modular sports solution to expand access to soccer throughout Iowa. The Mini-Pitch System™ is a complete solution with fencing, goals, lockable storage, ADA-compliant access, and TLC for LED® lights that extend play time by an average of 3 hours per day without affecting neighbors with spill light or glare. Contributions from local organizations and Brown University alumni allowed Project GOAL to transform a donated parking lot into a two-court mini-pitch just blocks from its headquarters. The project was managed and installed by Musco, and the company’s parts and labor warranty eliminates all maintenance costs through the year 2030.
