Westgate Park Water Slides

The Challenge

Once a military base, Westgate Park in Dothan, Alabama, is now home to Water World Water Park. To enhance fun and safety after dark, city leaders wanted to provide the best possible lighting on the park’s network of giant water slides, but they did not know what guidelines existed for this application. Project leaders reached out to engineering and architecture firm Barge Design Solutions for help finding a partner who could educate them on industry standards and design an LED water park lighting system to meet their needs. It was also important that the system be low-maintenance and backed by a reliable long-term warranty.

The Solution

Barge Design Solutions connected city leaders with representatives from Musco Lighting, who educated them on industry standards for pools and decks. Together they designed and installed a custom TLC for LED® system that lights the slides to the appropriate levels for safety while preventing glare and spill light from affecting neighbors. Color-changing RGBW fixtures wash the facility in custom hues for special events and can be synced to music with the Show-Light® special effects package to create exhilarating light shows. Facility staff can operate and schedule the lights instantly via smartphone using the Control-Link® service, and Musco’s long-term warranty covers every part and all labor for 25 years.
