The Wetumpka High School football program played at its previous stadium for more than a century, but when the mayor of Wetumpka, Alabama, planned an economic development project that would bring a new sports complex to the city, dreams for a new football stadium came to life. The city had high expectations for the new stadium, including the ability to host large events for both high school and collegiate-level outdoor sporting events. Project leaders needed state-of-the-art lighting to help accomplish their goals and wanted a manufacturer that could satisfy requirements for various levels of competition, provide a reliable system that is easy to maintain, and help transform the experience for nighttime events.
City leaders conducted research on several manufacturers to ensure the stadium received the best possible solution and chose to partner with Musco after learning of its expertise in the lighting industry and unique ability to transfer the old stadium’s lighting equipment to a nearby soccer field. The city opted for Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system with Show-Light® entertainment services. The system produces light levels to satisfy requirements for multiple sports and various levels of competition and includes a long-term parts and labor warranty that eliminates maintenance costs through 2045. Additionally, the Show-Light® technology introduces the community to a different approach to game night entertainment with the ability to produce cutting-edge light shows and special effects.
“Our kids are our future and that’s the reason we built what we built here.”
