The Challenge
Few sports pitches have as rich a history as the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. When Major League Baseball (MLB) decided to hold its first ever game at the Field of Dreams movie site in 2021, expectations were high for the ballgame that would make fans’ visions a reality. A new stadium needed to be built in the middle of a cornfield and not only conform to MLB standards, but also be ready for broadcast and deliver a fan experience like no other.
The Solution
Knowing Musco lit the original Field of Dreams movie over 30 years ago, and having trusted Musco to light several Major League stadiums since then, MLB equipped its new stadium with a TLC for LED® system featuring colour-changing RGB accent floodlights. BallTracker® technology creates a nighttime environment where the white of the ball visually pops, enabling players to track it better than ever before, and a Show-Light+® Entertainment Package allows light shows to be synced to music for a fan experience that lives up to the movie magic. After the first edition of MLB at Field of Dreams™ became the most watched baseball game in 16 years, both MLB and Minor League Baseball chose to play in Dyersville the following year.
