The Challenge

Shared by two rival high schools, Ravsten Stadium is home to time-honoured traditions. To transform the facility into one of Southeast Idaho’s top high school sports destinations, district leaders partnered with Musgrove Engineering for a $2.3 million renovation that would include installing turf and upgrading to LED sports floodlighting. Ideally, the new floodlighting system would add modern features like light shows and colour changing accents as well as advanced light control, so project leaders were excited when Musgrove Engineering explained that a Dark Sky-friendly system would help prevent light pollution from affecting neighbours and the night sky.

The Solution

Musgrove Engineering recommended partnering with Musco Lighting for a turnkey solution that would provide all the desired features on budget and within the district’s tight timeline. Project leaders chose to retrofit Ravsten Stadium with a new TLC for LED™ system that includes Idaho’s first ever Show-Light™ special effects. The Dark Sky-compliant system directs controlled light onto the playing field while preserving darkness around the facility, and colour changing RGB accent lighting allows the stadium to be customised for each team that calls it home. Individual luminaires can be synced to music with the Show-Light™ special effects for unforgettable light shows, and every part and all labour on the system is backed by Musco’s long-term warranty.
