The Challenge

Hellerup Sports Club (Hellerup Idræts Klub/HIK) is a popular athletic club in Copenhagen’s Gentofte municipality. When the existing metal halide floodlighting on one of its soccer (football) pitches was unable to produce light levels that were up to HIK’s standards for nighttime play, club leaders began searching for an LED sports floodlighting solution that could be mounted on the facility’s existing lattice towers. Because the football pitch is located between a school and a residential neighbourhood, it was critical the new system offer advanced light control capabilities to preserve dark nights for neighbours.

The Solution

Club leaders had seen Musco’s floodlighting on other local projects and were impressed by its performance and light control. After visiting another pitch with Musco floodlighting, they decided to retrofit their pitch with Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ technology. Musco’s application engineers designed custom hardware to mount the system to the pitch’s lattice towers, as well as photometric models to which the luminaires were factory-aimed, ensuring the system would raise light levels to HIK’s requirements. The system’s patented visoring minimises glare and spill light around the facility, and Musco’s long-term warranty covers every part and all labour for 10 years.
