The government of Mexico recently invested in the renovation of seaside stadiums Beto Ávila in Cancún and Estadio Nelson Barrera in Campeche. The existing high-intensity discharge (HID) floodlighting systems were expensive to run, challenging to maintain, and had experienced environmental wear and tear. A federal programme run by Mexico’s secretary of urban and rural development (SEDATU) evaluated floodlighting suppliers based on criteria including system performance, ability to meet broadcast lighting standards, and energy use. With each stadium’s proximity to the ocean, safety, and reliability were paramount.
Impressed by Musco’s history of success at professional ball fields including Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú in Mexico City, the project General Contractors chose Musco. Musco installed a custom TLC for LED™ systemthat included new poles to replace existing poles that had corroded due to each stadium’s proximity to the ocean, as well as luminaire assemblies with new crossarms mounted to the existing rooftop structures to help reduce costs. The new systems achieve Mexican League of Baseball (LMB) lighting standards, virtually eliminate glare, and the system at Estadio Beto Avila creates cutting edge audio-visual light shows with Musco’s Show-Light® Pro Venue technology. Both systems are backed by a 10 year parts and labour warranty.
“We are completely satisfied with the new lighting system installed at our stadium, it´s a high-quality, reliable, and easy-to-use solution. The lighting cannot be better and adding the light shows that people like so much, we highly recommended Musco Lighting.”
