Since its beginning in 1892, the University of Alabama’s baseball program has been no stranger to success with nearly 30 conference titles. As part of a redevelopment at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, the university wanted a lighting system that would meet its sustainability goals, while providing spectators a unique experience.With the installation of Musco’s Light-Structure Green™ LED system for the 2016 season, Sewell-Thomas Stadium is the first NCAA baseball stadium to be lit with an LED light source.

This innovative system brings many benefits for players, spectators, and fans watching on TV:

• Improves visibility with customized optics and specially aimed fixtures to light the complete trajectory of the ball
• Reduces energy consumption by 53 percent compared to the prior metal halide equipment

Since the system is interfaced with DMX controls, the university is able to provide show-time elements before, during, and after the game with special effects.
