As part of its initiative to help develop youth soccer players on and off the field, Kick It Forward wanted to provide safe places for young athletes to play in Des Moines and ultimately throughout all of Iowa. With help from Kum & Go, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Hansen Company, and the City of Des Moines, Kick It Forward was able to collect funds to begin the project at Birdland Sports Park, but needed to develop a comprehensive system that would allow children to play safely.
Kick It Forward was connected with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, which had worked with Musco to install its Mini‑Pitch System™ modular sports solution in cities throughout the country. After conducting research into the development of similar designs, Kick It Forward determined Musco’s Mini-Pitch System was exactly what it was looking for. The system is complete with fencing, goals, lockable storage, and ADA-compliant access for streamlined installation, and includes Musco’s high-quality LED lighting to reduce glare and light spill from affecting neighbors and extend playing time later into the evenings.
“Our goal is to bring several Mini-Pitches to neighborhoods throughout the Des Moines area. We see and hear about the need for accessible, safe places to play, and the Birdland neighborhood is the perfect spot for the first Mini-Pitch.”
