Grand Junction’s Canyon View Park boasts an abundance of high-quality athletic and leisure resources that provide the perfect environment for outdoor activities. Being a popular destination even during the evening hours, the city wanted to appropriately address existing lighting issues at its softball complex and soccer field. Not only were the lighting systems performing well below expectations, but the area’s poor soil conditions corroded existing support structures—which later caused a pole to fall over. The city also wanted to mitigate light pollution and follow International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) safe lighting practices.
City leaders were familiar with Musco and researched the capabilities of its system before determining the company’s superior light control technology and expertise provided the ideal solution. They opted for a Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system and—after having a geotechnical report conducted to confirm reliability—accomplished additional savings by reusing existing pole foundations. With help from Muso’s advanced light control technology and pre-aimed fixtures, Canyon View Park became the first facility of its kind in Colorado to receive IDA accreditation after meeting requirements for glare and spill light mitigation. Musco’s Control-Link® service grants the city instant remote operation of the lights while its comprehensive warranty eliminates maintenance costs through the year 2046.
“No matter the project that Musco has done for us, the customer service from a business standpoint has always been incredible. The product that they deliver is very reliable, and if I have a question or an issue, the team at Musco is always ready to assist.”
