Eagle County Fair and Rodeo

The Challenge

Before celebrating the 82nd anniversary of the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo, county leaders decided to upgrade the outdated lighting at its outdoor rodeo and warm–up arenas. Both facilities included underperforming light fixtures that consumed too much energy while the warm-up arena also sported old, deteriorating light poles. Facility leaders determined an upgrade to advanced LED technology was necessary for improving visibility at both arenas and minimizing overall energy consumption at the fairground. Additionally, the county wanted to create a one-of-a-kind experience for competitors and guests by including cutting-edge special effects lighting at the main rodeo arena.

The Solution

After seeing Musco’s Show-Light technology at a sporting event, a project leader recommended the system to fairground staff, who were well aware of the company’s reputation as an industry leader. As a result, they retrofitted Musco’s TLC for LED® technology onto existing structures at the rodeo arena and installed the same system onto new poles at the warm–up arena. The system achieves greater light levels at both facilities while operating with a reduced fixture count that minimizes overall energy consumption at the fairground. Musco’s patented light control technology ensures motorists on the nearby interstate remain unaffected by glare or spill light while staff gain instant remote operation of the lights with the Control-Link® service. Additionally, Musco’s Show-Light® entertainment package enhances nighttime events at the rodeo arena with preprogrammed light-shows and special effects.
