“I’m most impressed by Musco’s communication. When we needed something, it was a matter of a day or two before we had it. That expertise and communication speeds up the process. We wouldn’t be where we are now without their help and their assistance.”

For communities whose athletic facilities have been damaged by hurricanes and other severe weather events, ensuring public safety is priority one. Repairing or replacing damaged sports lighting is a more time-consuming process, often involving significant documentation, that comes after the department has addressed immediate safety and security needs.
These communities – like those hit hardest by Hurricane Ian in September 2022 – benefit from a sports lighting provider they can trust to guide them through every stage of the recovery effort and help families resume a full schedule of athletic programming as soon as possible.
Musco service representatives conducted detailed lighting assessments at 157 athletic fields in Florida’s Lee, Sarasota, and Charlotte counties in the months following Hurricane Ian. This on-site support provided cities, schools, and local and professional sports leagues with detailed insight to help ensure public safety, plan for repairs and replacements, navigate insurance and FEMA requirements, and ultimately gain peace of mind for a successful recovery.
The City of Cape Coral worked with Musco to assess the field lighting at 12 community sports facilities, which revealed the need to replace the lighting at four facilities. They installed Musco’s Total Light Control—TLC for LED® system on a total of 12 ballfields, six soccer fields, and a football field, which significantly enhanced light quality and control and allowed Cape Coral to resume their full athletic schedule.
Synergy NDS, recovery program manager for Florida Mutual Insurance Trust, chose Musco as the sports lighting provider for three ballfields at Sanibel’s community recreation center. The recreation center re-opened in May 2024. “When you’re going through any kind of recovery, you realize the critical importance of communication and partnerships, whether it’s with local, state, or federal organizations; businesses and nonprofits within your own community; or with other municipalities,” said City of Sanibel Recreation Director Andrea L. Miller. “Having those contacts established, and relationships in place with trusted vendors, is the gold standard.”
Musco’s local sales representatives, dedicated service and warranty team, and network of regionally based maintenance technicians are always available to help with the immediate and long-term recovery from hurricanes and other severe weather events.
For added peace of mind, every Musco system is backed by a parts and labor warranty that eliminates any maintenance costs for up to 25 years.
