When the existing basketball courts at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, were converted to be used for pickleball, the park became one of the state’s prime playing locations for the sport, both recreationally and competitively. To further develop the facility, city leaders wanted to add lighting that would extend use of all 15 courts later into the evening and provide a space capable of hosting regional and national competitions. Priorities for the new system were to provide clear, uniform lighting that is cost-effective as well as simple to operate so facility staff can easily turn the lights off after curfew each night.
Project leaders knew of Musco’s reputation in the lighting industry and trusted in the company’s ability to help accomplish the city’s goals. As a result, the city chose to partner with Musco and install its Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ technology at all 15 courts. With Musco’s customizable optics and patented light control technology, Monument Valley Park gains clear, uniform lighting that won’t affect players or neighbors with glare or spill light. The system also includes Musco’s Control-Link® monitoring service, which allows staff to operate the lights instantly, from anywhere, with the touch of a smartphone. And, with Musco’s parts and labor warranty, the city won’t pay any maintenance costs for the system through the year 2045.
