Since 1939, Little League® Baseball and Softball has united young athletes from around the world to learn life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities. For the 75th anniversary of the Little League Baseball® World Series, the organization identified a need to update Howard J. Lamade Stadium with LED lighting while preserving its historic feel. The upgrade would not only provide the improved visibility and playability afforded by LED sports lighting but also entertainment features like colored lighting and the ability to create light shows. Any new system would also need to be backed by a dependable warranty that would keep Lamade Stadium up to Little League standards for decades to come.
Little League has trusted Musco Lighting to light the Little League World Series since 1992, when it installed the company’s metal halide system at Lamade Stadium, so the organization chose to retrofit a TLC for LED® system onto the facility’s existing structures. The system produces light levels that meet both Little League and broadcast standards while minimizing glare, and BallTracker® fixtures light the underside of the aerial baseball to help players follow its path with better contrast against the dark sky. Color-changing RGB fixtures allow staff to wash Lamade Stadium with different colors to honor important causes and can be synced to music using the Show-Light® entertainment package to create spectacular light shows in future years. With Musco’s long-term warranty, every part and all labor on the system is covered for 25 years.
