Sioux Falls School District built Jefferson High School as part of an extensive capital improvement plan to address overcrowded school campuses and extend opportunities for the town’s growing student-population. From classrooms to athletic fields, project leaders wanted to provide the best possible facilities and dedicated many resources toward accomplishing this goal. The district aimed to deliver its first public high school football field with artificial turf and lights, so it was important that project leaders find an advanced LED sports lighting system that would offer trouble-free operation and optimal visibility well into the future.
All high schools in the district host games at the city’s Howard Wood Field, where Musco installed a metal halide lighting system in 2016. This allowed project leaders to better understand Musco’s capabilities and encouraged them to install its new Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system. Achieving optimal light levels and the best possible light control, the system creates ideal playing and viewing conditions for players and fans. Musco’s Control-Link® service allows staff to remotely operate the lights via smartphone, enabling teams to practice later into the evening, while its parts and labor warranty eliminates any maintenance costs until the year 2046.
