In 2009, Yas Marina Circuit made history with a cutting-edge lighting system that allowed the track to host the world’s first twilight run of a Formula One™ event. Fast-forward nearly 15 years, and the facility team continues to innovate. With its original Musco lighting system coming close to the end of its useful life — and the UAE pursuing an ambitious initiative to reduce carbon emissions — the team at Yas Marina Circuit needed an upgraded system built for safety, speed, style, and sustainability.
After evaluating the lighting systems at several of the world’s most renowned street racing courses – including Jeddah Corniche Circuit (Saudi Arabia), Bahrain International Circuit (Bahrain), and Losail International Circuit (Qatar) – the team at Yas Marina Circuit renewed their relationship with Musco. The facility’s new Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system has more than 4,300 fixtures, including color-changing pole accent lights, color-changing luminaires, and newly developed LED fixtures with Mirtran™ technology designed specifically for racing.
For added peace of mind, Musco’s comprehensive parts and labor warranty eliminates all maintenance costs for the system until the year 2033.
The system has generated praise from drivers and fans, including those who participated in the F1® Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023 on Sunday, Nov. 26.
“The 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit was the largest to date, with all eyes on Abu Dhabi. This remarkable moment in the country’s history was only possible with the concerted effort of stakeholders including Musco. We thank Musco for their unwavering support through the 2023 Formula One season—their work was truly phenomenal, both operationally and commercially, helping to create memorable experiences for our guests.”
