Iowa City High School had been struggling with its field lighting quality at Bates Field and after further testing it was discovered that the facility’s aging lighting system was producing insufficient light levels. This posed a safety issue for athletes when competing at night, encouraging school leaders to seek out a new lighting system in order to enhance safety at the facility. The school’s overall goal was to improve visibility on the field while creating a better game night atmosphere for players and fans. Additionally, Iowa City High School needed a lighting manufacturer that could effectively manage the project while the school juggled multiple construction initiatives.
The school had partnered with Musco on projects in the past and was confident Musco could provide the convenience and excellent customer service needed for the project. Musco’s Total Light Control–TLC for LED™ system immediately improved visibility and safety with proper light levels, and the 25-year warranty eliminated maintenance concerns and costs for the school well into the future. Due to a busy schedule, the inclusion of Control-Link® control system was imperative. Additionally, Musco’s Show-Light® entertainment package includes energizing special effect features for fans and players to enjoy, while MuscoVision® automated sports broadcasting allows fans to cheer players on from afar.
