Historic Bismarck Municipal Ballpark has had a significant impact on the eminent baseball reputation of Bismarck, North Dakota. Operating since 1921, the facility hosts many levels of competition and was once home to Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy “Satchel” Paige—who played semi-professional baseball at the field from 1933 to 1935. With the original field lighting installed in 1949, the district decided to upgrade to an LED sports lighting system for a more modern ballpark experience. In addition to improving playing and viewing conditions for players and fans, project leaders wanted to use cutting-edge special effects technology to energize the game night atmosphere.
Bismarck had partnered with Musco for several other lighting projects and was familiar with the capabilities of its advanced lighting solutions, which encouraged leaders to install Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ technology. The system achieves greater light levels and uniformity to improve visibility for players and fans as well as for broadcasts of Bismarck Larks baseball games. Musco’s Show-Light® entertainment package adds additional excitement with state-of-the-art light shows and special effects, while the comprehensive parts and labor warranty ensures the district won’t pay any maintenance costs through the year 2046.
“Installation of the Musco LED system at the Bismarck Municipal Ballpark has created a better experience for players and fans with high-quality lighting on the field while eliminating the spillover for our ballpark neighbors. Our staff appreciates the easy-to-use technology that has improved efficiency and operations.”
