Westside High School Partners with Musco After a 50-year Wait to Upgrade its Lighting System

The Challenge

Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska, hadn’t upgraded its field lighting system for 50 years, but in 2020 school officials decided it was time. It was important to Westside High School that the new system be environmentally responsible, create exceptional visibility for players and fans, and reduce spill and glare. Unfortunately, the project took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed its own set of challenges and slowed the project’s progress.

The Solution

After decades of waiting, Westside moved ahead with the installation of a Total Light Control–TLC for LED™ system by Musco, which eased concerns about light spill and glare affecting both the environment and nearby homes. The new system includes Musco’s Show-Light® entertainment package, which creates exciting special effects light shows and enhances the game experience for players and spectators. In addition to an advanced lighting system, Westside’s partnership with Musco allows school officials to have peace of mind knowing the system is backed by a 25-year warranty, resulting in long-term reliability and zero maintenance costs.

“Any school district looking to upgrade their lighting should seriously consider Musco. The customer service, technology, and warranty were instrumental for us to consider Musco. It was 50 years for our district to upgrade our facility and we could not be happier. We also added a few extras to really enhance the game experience.”
